This shared service strives to increase student achievement by building skills, knowledge, leadership and collaboration among the staff of the seven school districts (Haworth, Closter, Demarest, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, Norwood and Northvale) that feed into Northern Valley Regional’s two high schools.

The curriculum center provides all new teacher learning through a three-year academy; professional opportunities for lead teachers through a coaching academy; and more than 100 full-day workshops, supporting strands such as instructional strategies, curriculum connections, social and emotional leadership, and technology. The NVCC also oversees the writing of curriculum across the elementary school districts, and has taken a lead role in Common Core State Standards implementation, and support for PARCC assessments.

In addition, districts from throughout the state are invited to participate in activities of the Northern Valley Curriculum Center.
