Acting Commissioner of Education Kimberley Harrington has expanded the waiver previously granted for Workshop 2017. The action will enable Workshop to provide an additional day of training.

Workshop 2017, “Education for a Common Purpose,” will take place Monday, Oct. 23 through Thursday, Oct.26. Training sessions will be conducted all four days.

The Workshop Exhibit Floor will open on Tuesday morning, Oct. 24 and operate through Wednesday, Oct. 25.

The adjusted waiver allows school districts to reimburse eligible board members and staff for overnight accommodations for a maximum of three, rather than two, nights. Individuals whose one-way commute to the Atlantic City Convention Center exceeds 50 miles may obtain reimbursement from their school district, charter school, or renaissance school project for overnight lodging for Oct. 23, 24, and 25.

Sponsored by NJSBA, the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials, Workshop is the largest training conference for the state’s local school officials. Last year’s event drew nearly 8,000 attendees and featured more than 250 training and information sessions for school board members, superintendents, school business administrators and other district staff, including IT directors, buildings-and-grounds supervisors and curriculum supervisors.
