Nominations are being accepted for the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Awards for Public Service. The statewide awards recognize extraordinary volunteer service in a variety of categories, ranging from education to volunteer leadership.

The organization’s website describes what the award celebrates.“Honorees of the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award achieve measurable community impact and represent outstanding acts of public service, without the expectation of recognition or compensations. Recipients demonstrate unique vision, dedication and tenacity of heroic proportion and serve as inspiration for others.

“Board of education members model volunteerism day in and day out,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director. “Please give consideration to recommending one of your hard-working colleagues for this prestigious public service award.”

The deadline to nominate is Feb. 29; winners are typically recognized at a dinner in June.
