The New Jersey School Boards Association is offering one more opportunity for school leaders to attend Bargaining at the Table, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.) and will take place at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, 301 Sullivan Way, West Trenton, NJ 08628.

The program is designed to cover what happens at the bargaining table, what to expect during negotiations, and how districts should respond.

The Dec. 2 offering of Bargaining at the Table received rave reviews from attendees. Here is what some of the attendees had to say about the training:

This program covers the mechanics of bargaining; how to analyze union demands; ways to use comparative data; impasse procedures; and at-the-table techniques.

Professional Development Credit Bargaining at the Table offers 4 Board Member Academy Credits. Application for 6.5 Continuing Legal Education Credits for New Jersey lawyers is pending before the New Jersey Supreme Court, and application for 3.5 Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) credits is pending for business administrators.

Registration Registration for this program may be done online, but only by the school business administrator. Business administrators wishing to register officials from their districts should have a scanned purchase order ready to attach to the registration.

Cost The member fee for Bargaining at the Table is $149 per person. The non-member rate is $298 per person. Districts can save by sending up to five attendees from the same district for $699. The fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
