John C. Paladino, 73, of Newfield, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 7, 2018, after his home was destroyed in a gas explosion. Also killed in the explosion was his wife of 50 years, Carole A. (Federico) Paladino.

He was the president of the Newfield Board of Education in Gloucester County, and served on his board for more than 25 years, many as president.

Born in Vineland, John was the son of the late John and Mary (Raffaele) Paladino. He was a graduate of Vineland High School, Class of 1962. He served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He was a former co-owner of Graphic Techniques in Newfield and continued work in printing until retirement. Most recently, he was employed by the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home of Vineland.

John was an active member and volunteer of St. Rose of Lima Church prior to merging into Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish. In addition to his school board service, he was a volunteer on the Rose Hill Cemetery Association, the Newfield Planning Board, and as a coach on youth sports teams. In his free time, he refereed soccer for over 30 years and enjoyed skeet shooting.

He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Jackie.

John is survived by two children, Anthony Paladino and Susan Gramley (Ed); brother, Charles Paladino and his pride and joy granddaughters, Emily and Jessica.
