On Friday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., NJSBA is conducting a field trip to participate in hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises of U.S. Army Field-Based Risk Reduction (FBRR) at CERDEC Ground Activity (CGA) at Fort Dix. (CERDEC stands for Communications Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center.)

School officials are invited to attend to learn how the work performed at CGA can help support leadership decisions relating to the implementation of iSTEAM curriculum and professional development in districts. There is no cost to attend this program, which offers four Board Member Academy credits.

School officials will interact with CGA’s engineers and learn how the U.S. Army creates state-of-the-art FBRR solutions for the U.S. Army soldier’s operational needs.

Program features will include:

  • Tour of CERDEC Ground Activity
  • Lesson on what FBRR is and why it is important
  • Participation in collaborative real world problem-solving with CGA Engineers
  • Hands-on demonstrations of rapid prototyping using 3D print technology, communications networks and data collection
  • Information on how the Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) can become transferable job skills and job opportunities to enhance district iSTEAM plan
