NJSBA is partnering with the New Jersey Technology and Engineering Educators Association (NJTEEA) to hold an “unconference” on May 7 at The College of New Jersey. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is focused on the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art and math in K-12 education.
An “unconference” is a loosely-structured conference that emphasizes the informal exchange of information and ideas between participants, rather than following a conventionally structured program of events. The informal structure leads to fruitful collaboration and the fostering of meaningful professional relationships.
Because attendees drive the discussion topics, there is not a set topic list, however some of the topics from last year’s unconference included integrative STEAM; project-based learning; meeting the Next Generation Science Standards; the hour of code; 3D printing and design; and the “maker”movement that encourages student invention.
NJSBA will be awarding three Board Member Academy credits for participating in the conference.
