On Friday, May 25, NJSBA President Daniel T. Sinclair and Executive Director Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod met with Jason Botel, principal deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, to discuss issues such as school security, school funding, IDEA, the mission of the New Jersey School Boards Association, and the critical role that school board members play in student achievement.

They also presented Botel with NJSBA’s 2014 report on school security, “What Makes Schools Safe;” a copy of the resolution on school safety recently passed by the NJSBA Delegate Assembly; and a copy of NJSBA’s most recent Strategic Plan.  They were accompanied by Mark Biedron, former president of the State Board of Education, and a longtime friend of the Association. Biedron helped arrange the meeting with the U.S. Department of Education.
