The New Jersey School Boards Association is offering two opportunities for school leaders to attend Bargaining at the Table: Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 and Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. Both programs run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.) and take place at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, 301 Sullivan Way, West Trenton, NJ 08628.

To help ensure districts are prepared to negotiate effectively, NJSBA is encouraging districts in or entering negotiations to send their entire negotiations team. The program is designed to cover what happens at the bargaining table, what to expect during negotiations, and how districts should respond.

Topics include:

  • the mechanics of bargaining (ground rules, timing, procedures)
  • analyzing union demands
  • using comparative data
  • impasse procedures
  • at-the-table techniques

Registration Registration for this program may be done online by clicking the dates listed above, but only by the school business administrator. Business administrators wishing to register officials from their districts should have a scanned purchase order ready to attach to the registration.

Cost The member fee for Bargaining at the Table is $149 per person. Districts can save by sending up to 5 attendees from the same district for $699. The fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
