Recently NJSBA’s president and members of the governmental relations staff met with Frank Luna, chief of staff to Congressman Tom MacArthur of New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, to discuss pending legislation and the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The group also talked about MacArthur’s student literacy initiative. He is conducting a literacy challenge in his district and NJSBA is in full support of this campaign. “We thank Congressman MacArthur for his efforts to promote student literacy, and we encourage local boards of education to consider participating in the 3rd Congressional District Reading Challenge,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director.
