The Beverly School District uses a computer-based skills assessment program to gauge student performance in the elementary and middle school grades and develop differentiated instruction.

Data is collected on a student-by-student basis, and shared with teachers to aid in the design of instruction for each student. The information is also retained to create a longitudinal database of student performance, which is summarized and presented to the board of education on a quarterly basis. District teachers are aware that the board reviews this data, and some attend presentations at the board meetings.

2014 marked the program’s third year. District officials indicate that parents are very impressed by, and informed by, the presentations.
