In Absecon, the schools have embraced the importance of learning about science and technology with an added twist: The arts.

Students there are going full STEAM ahead, with a new district program focusing on STEAM – science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.

The Absecon Public School community, comprised of teachers, administrators, staff, parents and board members, came together to develop a five-year strategic plan. “Full STEAM Ahead” was selected as the theme.

Educator Georgette Yakman, who developed STEAM education, was brought in to train teachers in ways to integrate the arts into the curriculum with STEM, using a multi-disciplinary approach.
