TRENTON, February 27, 2014—Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director, today made the following statement in response to Governor Christie’s nomination of David Hespe as New Jersey Commissioner of Education:

“I can’t think of a better choice for the position. As an individual, I have found Dave Hespe to have a fair and balanced perspective on the issues facing local school districts. As an organization, the New Jersey School Boards Association has had a positive relationship with Dave Hespe, whether he was serving as education commissioner, education counsel to the governor, or chief of staff at the Department of Education. He is genuine in his support for public education and in his dedication to students. We look forward to working with him.”

The New Jersey School Boards Association is a federation of 581 local boards of education and includes 81 charter school associate members. NJSBA provides training, advocacy and support to advance public education and promote the achievement of all students through effective governance.
