This year, the NJSBA Board Member Academy instituted the passing of an exam as a criterion for receiving the Master Board Member and Certified Board Leader designations. Be advised that the Academy will allow board members who do not achieve a passing score on the first administration of the exam to retake the test without undergoing a waiting period.

The NJSBA Board Member Academy awards four levels of individual certification, recognizing the acquisition of training and skills-development in school board governance: New Board Member (NBM); Certificated Board Member (CBM); Master Board Member (MBM); and Certified Board Leader (CBL). Passing an exam is a criterion for the MBM and CBL designations.

In addition, the Academy offers three levels of full-board certification: Board Certification; Board Recertification; and Master Board Certification.
