Patricia Anne Sarasohn, who served as a board member in Madison for 23 years, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20. She was 71 years old.

A resident of Madison for the past 41 years, she joined the Madison Board of Education in 1985, and served as its president for many years. Upon her retirement from the Madison board in 2008, the district honored her by naming the courtyard at Madison High School the “Patricia A. Sarasohn Courtyard.”

She graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and earned her B.A. degree in education from the University of Michigan in 1967. She was a member of Temple B’Nai Or in Morristown.

Patricia is survived by her children, Amy and David Spurr, of Portland, Oregon, Anne Sarasohn, of Morristown, and Adam and Eliza Sarasohn, of Kensington, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Penelope and Maxwell Spurr, and Gray and August Sarasohn. Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1999.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Temple B’Nai Or, 60 Overlook Road, Morristown. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Cedar Knolls.
