A new, online directory of exemplary programs taking place in New Jersey’s public schools – from STEM programs, to school climate initiatives and school board leadership work – was launched this week by the New Jersey School Boards Association.
Called A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices, found at staging.njsba.org/a-plus, the directory includes dozens of successful efforts in New Jersey districts.
“Experience is often the best teacher…and it doesn’t have to be your own,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, New Jersey School Boards Association executive director. “NJSBA plans for the A+ website to be an information center and library of best practices, where school leaders and educators share outstanding efforts to advance student achievement and ensure the soundness of district operations. It’s a place where they can learn from the success of their colleagues throughout the state.”
A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices features successful local school district efforts in Curriculum/Student Achievement; STEM Education/Technology; District Governance/Board Leadership; School Climate; Shared Services; Facilities and Financial Operations; Special Education; Sustainable Practices; and Community Relations. More than 50 programs are included.
Each entry includes a descriptive summary, contact information and, often, photos and website addresses for further information. A few entries also feature videos. New content will be added regularly, as the site expands throughout the year.
School board members, superintendents, school business administrators, charter school leaders, curriculum supervisors, teachers and other educators are invited to submit their best practices for consideration. Information should be submitted by completing a brief survey.
“The A+ website shows the breadth of exciting programs taking place in New Jersey’s public school classrooms and school districts every day,” Feinsod said. “We look forward to the participation of all New Jersey school districts in this exciting project.”
