In response to allegations that a company knowingly sold defective field turf to several school districts and municipalities across New Jersey, a Senate committee has scheduled a hearing to gather more information on the matter.

On Monday, Jan. 30 the Senate Commerce Committee, chaired by Senator Nellie Pou, will hear testimony from invited guests regarding product durability and other problems associated with artificial turf playing surfaces in use in New Jersey. The committee will meet at 1 p.m. in Committee Room 6, First Floor, State House Annex, Trenton, New Jersey.

The chair has invited a representative from the NJSBA to testify. Senator Pou is also seeking representatives from school districts that have been impacted by this issue to testify before the committee. Individuals who are interested in testifying should contact Jonathan Pushman of NJSBA’s Governmental Relations Department via email, or call 609-278-5248 for additional information.
