The New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA), along with Legal One, a partner of the Foundation for Educational Administration (FEA), will hold two programs this month, designed for school board members, school administrators and school attorneys.

“Litigation Education Disputes” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FEA building at 12 Centre Drive in Monroe Township.

School law attorneys, superintendents, and local administrator association leaders must be able to successfully maneuver within various administrative and judicial forums. Participants will gain an understanding of how to prepare a school law case, including proceedings for tenure charges, special education, and other educational matters. This program will include a review of interactions between the board attorney and insurance counsel, rules regarding discovery, court procedures, and appellate issues.

Presenters include Michael Kaelber, NJSBA’s director of legal and labor relations services, and David Nash, Legal One director.

The program fee is $150. Online registration is available here.

“Preparing for PARCC, Year 2: Emerging Legal Issues” will be held on Friday, Jan. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Morris-Union Jointure Commission, 340 Central Ave., New Providence.

With the first year of PARCC complete, and year two fast approaching, now is a critical time to take stock in the lessons learned from the first year of implementation, and to review legal requirements and emerging legal issues. This program is ideal for school administrators, testing coordinators, school board members, school attorneys and anyone else who cares about the future of state testing.

Presenters include Michael Kaelber, NJSBA’s director of legal and labor relations services, and David Nash, Legal One director.

The program fee is $150. Online registration is available here.
