Following a year of research, the NJSBA School Security Task Force issued its final report, What Makes Schools Safe?, which includes 45 recommendations for action by local school boards, the state, and the federal government.
The work of the task force is part of the Association’s Safe and Secure Schools Project, which was launched in response to the December 2012 tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, The report will serve as a resource to guide local boards of education as they make decisions critical to the security of their communities’ schools and the safety of their students.
The task force leaders will discuss the study group’s findings and recommendations and the current state of school security in New Jersey at three regional meetings:
- NEW DATE: Central New Jersey, Monday, Feb. 9, 7 to 8:30 p.m., North Brunswick Township High School
- Southern New Jersey, CANCELLED DUE TO WINTER STORM Tuesday, Jan. 27, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center (Police and Fire Academy), Westampton Township
- Northern New Jersey: Thursday, Feb. 19, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Montville Township High School
