The November annual school election is still about four months away, but NJSBA reminds prospective school board candidates that nominating petitions for that election are due to the county clerk by 4 p.m. on Monday, July 30.

School board secretaries and anyone interested in board member candidacy can find sample nominating petitions and information on candidacy at staging.njsba.org/candidacy.

Ballot Bracketing On May 30, S-868/A-2030, was enacted, which allows board of education candidates to circulate a nominating petition jointly and to be bracketed together on the ballot. NJSBA has both types of sample petitions—individual filing and joint filing—posted on its Candidates Kit web page.

Board candidates are reminded that some county boards of elections require the use of a county-specific nominating petition and other forms. They should contact their county clerk for details concerning the proper form(s) to use for candidacy in the November 2018 elections.
