The following policies have been updated for compliance with N.J.A.C. 6A:26-12.4, which requires schools to ensure the availability of potable drinking water through sanitary means in school facilities or upon school grounds in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, N.J.S.A. 58:12A-1 et seq.. Districts are required to do an initial lead sampling and analysis by July 1, 2017 and every six years thereafter. The water sampling analysis must be conducted in accordance with a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP). The results of the water sampling analysis must be made publicly available at the school facility and on the district website.

3510 Operation and Maintenance of Plant The introduction of this policy was edited. A section was added titled Safe Drinking Water. This is a summary of the requirements which are covered in greater detail in policy 3516 Safety.

3516 Safety Three sections were added, titled: Safe Drinking Water; Drinking Water Sample Analysis; and Water Sample Analysis Results: Notifications. In addition a section titled Resources was added following the Key Words which directs districts to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection web links for guidance and templates for developing a Quality Assurance Project Plan and Lead Sampling Plan.
