W. Michael Brindle, who served on the Lawrence Township (Mercer) Board of Education for 21 years,  died on July 13. He was 70.

Brindle, who received a B.A. in music education from Glassboro State College and a M.A. from Trenton State College, was a longtime band teacher for elementary school students in the Hopewell Valley Regional school district.

He served on the NJSBA Board of Directors from 2005 to 2012, and was active in the Mercer County School Boards Association.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Ann Brindle; daughter, Janet Brindle Reddick, and son-in-law, Jay Reddick; sister, Victoria Socha; niece, Jennifer Richardson and her husband, David and  daughter, Ella; niece, Christine Janutolo Hunt and her husband, Shawn and son, Ryan; and nephew, Mark.
