The U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey chapter is accepting nominations for a student award that recognizes the importance of sustainability in education. The award is for a project that demonstrates a student’s efforts and contributions toward building a healthier environment.
The project must fit one or more of the following criteria: Inspires or teaches others about sustainability practices; connects environmental science or education for sustainability to the green building industry; demonstrates actions that help reduce the impact of CO2 emissions through innovative student-designed projects or events; demonstrates the economic and environmental value for sustainable design and construction of buildings; demonstrates leadership that results in the conservation of materials and resources, or in behavioral or policy changes in a school or community; and promotes and informs others about renewable energy sources, energy management strategies or energy efficiency practices.
The award winner will receive $500; and will be honored at the 13th Annual Emerald Awards Gala on Oct. 30.
