The Future Ready Schools – New Jersey program, a partnership created to advance technology and digital learning in New Jersey’s schools, has been named winner of the Impact Award presented by the N.J. Technology and Engineering Educators Association (NJTEEA).
A collaboration between the New Jersey School Boards Association, the N.J. Department of Education (NJDOE) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Future Ready Schools – N.J. is a voluntary certification program designed to support and encourage schools and districts to embrace digital learning.
The Impact Award will be presented to Future Ready Schools – NJ (FRS-NJ) at an awards dinner on June 8.
Formed in 2016, FRS-NJ certified 63 schools in its inaugural year. The program, which is an offshoot of the national Future Ready Schools initiative, also supports training programs, webinars, and other efforts that work to transform New Jersey schools’ curriculum, instruction and professional learning.
“We are extremely proud of the work done by Future Ready Schools – NJ to enhance technology and digital education in our schools, and even more proud that NJSBA is one of the founding partners of this valuable effort,” said NJSBA Executive Director Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod.
“We thank our partners in this program – NJDOE and NJIT – and we are grateful to the NJTEEA for this recognition,” Feinsod said. “Most importantly, we congratulate the myriad schools and districts that have joined us in becoming future ready, and we look forward to the continued growth and impact of the Future Ready program.”
The NJTEEA each year acknowledges an organization for continued excellence and support of technology and engineering education.
In its email to Future Ready, announcing the award, the NJTEEA said the Impact Award “honors exceptional business and industry supporters of Technology and Engineering Education in New Jersey. Recipients have made a notable impact through their virtuous support for students and/or educators” in technology and engineering education.
“The NJTEEA Awards Committee has chosen to recognize Future Ready Schools-New Jersey for their devotion to promoting future ready skills and preparing young minds for jobs of tomorrow,” the email continued. “The committee feels that it is most appropriate to acknowledge such a forward-thinking organization whose ideals are so similar to those of the organization.”
