Recent advisory opinions of the New Jersey School Ethics Commission will have a profound impact on the operations of our state’s local boards of education and charter schools. While the New Jersey School Boards Association strongly supports the School Ethics Act, it has publicly expressed concern about the direction of the commission’s recent advisory opinions.

Information about these opinions has appeared in School Board Notes and has been provided at county school boards association meetings. To assist board members in learning about the NJSEC’s recent opinions, and understanding how the commission operates and the provisions of the School Ethics Act, NJSBA has developed a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the New Jersey School Ethics Act. The FAQ includes numerous electronic links to relevant statute, code and information sources.
