The Rev. Deacon Cornelia Spoor, MSW, LCSW (1952-2017), a member of the Roosevelt Board of Education, died on Feb. 23. She was 64 years old, and had been a member of the Roosevelt board since 2014.

The mother of four, she was a steadfast advocate for children and families. She was a case worker and then director of International Social Service-American Branch (1994-1996) and director of the New Jersey office of World Child, Inc., an adoption agency, until 2008. Previously, as a graduate student, she taught English composition at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

She was ordained a deacon of the Episcopal Church in 2002. Cornelia is survived by her spouse, Lee; their children Sarah, Audrey, Theodore and Simon; and many loving family members and friends.
