Lehigh University’s 45th Special Education Law Conference, featuring sessions on the legal ethics of special education; parental participation; effective IEP meetings; and more, will take place Friday, May 12.
NJSBA Director of Legal and Labor Relations Michael Kaelber is among the moderators at the conference. The registration deadline is April 1.
The one-day program will take place at the university’s College of Education, on the Mountaintop Campus. The conference includes a year-in-review keynote by Dr. Perry Zirkel, university professor of education and law at Lehigh University, the former dean of the College of Education, who more recently held the Iacocca Chair in Education for its five-year term.
The Special Education Law Conference is geared toward administrators of private schools for students with disabilities; public school administrators; special education and regular teacher-leaders; higher education personnel; attorneys; school psychologists; social workers; parents and others.
Kaelber will serve as moderator of a program entitled “Special Education Law 101: The Do’s and Don’ts of Special Education Litigation.” The discussion of “hot button” items in special education will include attorneys specializing in special education litigation from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. (registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.) in Iacocca Hall on the Lehigh University Mountaintop Campus, 111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
