Many school boards have expressed interest in adopting resolutions on the issue of pension and health benefits reform. As a service to our members, the New Jersey School Boards Association has developed a sample document, reflecting the Association’s policies and positions, which local school boards may use as the basis to express their own beliefs on this issue.

The sample resolution, in MS-Word format, can be downloaded from the NJSBA website here.

Interest in this issue follows release of “A Roadmap to Resolution,” the report of the New Jersey Pension and Health Benefit Study Commission, late last month. The report proposes monumental changes in the administration and funding of state retirement programs, including the transfer of the employer’s contributions to the Teachers’ Pension and Annuity Fund and teachers’ post-retirement medical benefits from the state to local school districts.
