Ernest “Ernie” Donnelly, a lifelong educator and former member of the Middletown Board of Education, died on April 26. A resident of Lincroft, he served as a member of the Middleton Board of Education from 2013 until January 2018. He was 79.

He was a former teacher at Old Bridge Public schools, was principal of Marlboro Middle School, and served as superintendent in Lavallette as well as Millstone Township. In retirement he served as an interim superintendent in several districts. He was a graduate of Kean College and Seton Hall’s Masters program.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eileen; his son Keith and his daughter in law Concetta; granddaughters Michaela Casey and Keira Ryan; sister-in-law Elizabeth Yeisley, and three nephews, Rex, Ryan, and Ross Yeisley.
