Following the successful launch of the New Jersey School Boards Association’s A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices in January, a new group of 30 exemplary and exciting programs has been added to the online directory.
The updated A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices was posted on Tuesday, May 12.
The A+ site is a place for school officials and school boards to display and share programs that are working effectively in their school districts. Among the new additions to the site are STEM education programs that are attracting more girls to study engineering and technology classes; shared services that highlight ways districts are saving money; and special education practices designed to give students involvement in their own individualized education programs (IEPs).
Also new to the site is a request for feedback on A+ Ideas, and a new direct email address – [email protected] – where viewers can provide feedback and comments.
A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices was created to promote effective governance, management and educational practices among school boards, which is part of NJSBA’s mission. Experience is often the best teacher – and the idea behind the A+online directory is that school districts can learn from each other.
Programs are highlighted in the areas of: Curriculum/student achievement; facilities/financial operations; governance/board leadership; school climate; shared services; special education; STEM education; sustainable practices; and community relations.
The next update of A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices will take place in the fall, but NJSBA is gathering information now. To submit a program for consideration for A+ Ideas, please complete a simple survey.
