NJSBA Holds Charter School Conference – New Jersey School Boards Association

NJSBA held its third annual Charter School Conference recently, welcoming charter school associate members to a program offering training on school labor relations, school security, technology and governance. An overwhelming majority of the state’s public charter schools are members of NJSBA’s Charter School Associate Membership Program. The conference took place at Mercer County Community College.

NJSBA Field Services Representatives Kathy Helewa and Jesse Adams (standing) presented the kick-off program at the conference, “Guide to the Chief School Administrator/Lead Person Evaluation Process.”

Breakout sessions included topics such as building security, labor negotiations and technology. Here, presenting the topic “What Every Good Board Member Should Know About Charter School Governance and Ethics,” is attorney Brenda C. Liss, partner, Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti, LLP.

Future Ready Schools-N.J. provided information to charter school associate members about the Future Ready program, and its benefits for public school students.
