Many school board members are unaware that the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) is implementing major changes in the student teaching process in New Jersey.  The changes are intended to lead to better-prepared first-year teachers in New Jersey.

As the changes are coming, school districts that host student teachers – which includes many of the state’s districts – will have to prepare for the changes.  BlogTalk Radio, NJSBA’s online radio interview program, featured a conversation on this topic recently, which is available to listeners via the internet.

Joining NJSBA host Ray Pinney are Kristen Brown, chief talent officer for the NJDOE, and Dr. Bernard Bragen Jr., superintendent of the Hazlet Township School District, which is a school district piloting the program. For more information, visit the website.
