Workshop 2015, to be held Oct. 27-29 at the Atlantic City Convention Center, will feature an exciting program mix of new features and old favorites. Among the more than 250 learning opportunities and outstanding keynote sessions are lunchtime programs, demonstrations of technology, and new and exciting ways districts can embrace iSTEAM and sustainability initiatives.

New Features

Lunch & Learn is Expanded to Tuesday and Wednesday

Lunch & Learn is returning, and this year it is taking place on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The entire Exhibit Floor will be turned into a Lunch & Learn training event on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. The first 2000 people to get a ticket will receive a free lunch. Lunch tickets will be available at the County Café, the NJSBA’s TEC booth and the NJSBA Services area, located in the middle of the Exhibit Floor.

Between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., attendees may get their free lunch at designated concession stands, which will be marked with a Lunch & Learn logo, to enjoy while attending one of the numerous training opportunities taking place on the Exhibit Floor. Revamped Mock Board, Wednesday, Oct. 28, Investors Bank Theater

Board members love speaking to the NJSBA attorneys. This year, the first half-hour of the Mock Board meeting will be dedicated to public comment/non-agenda items, offering an opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions of NJSBA’s legal experts.  Following the public comment session, attorneys will participate in a half-hour “mock” board of education meeting, featuring the key players discussing hot topics in education.

Overhauled iSTEAM & Green Command Center

The newly redesigned iSTEAM and Green Command Center (formerly iSTEM) will demonstrate the incorporation of arts school programs, entrepreneurial iSTEAM, and highlight iSTEAM careers and business opportunities.

Inside the iSTEAM & Green Command Center, teachers will share their classroom techniques and school staff and subject matter experts will highlight best practices to marry curriculum standards and facility projects using iSTEAM and sustainability as the common denominator. Information on cost savings and statewide green resources will also be available. Learn more in this recent School Board Notes article.

Empowerment Centers

The Empowerment Centers are four new training destinations right on the exhibit floor. Attendees are encouraged to visit the centers and view demonstrations and educational opportunities.
