Sharing good ideas is a powerful force. That is the idea behind one of NJSBA’s initiatives, A+ Ideas, Programs and Practices, an online collection of successful, creative programs and practices in public school classrooms and district offices.

The A+ website is a place where school leaders and educators share outstanding efforts to advance student achievement and ensure the soundness of district operations. It’s a site where school board members, administrators and other educators can learn from the success of colleagues throughout the state.

The A+ directory, which has been updated several times since it was created in 2015, recently launched a new, more user-friendly look, and is now seeking nominations for new entries.

The directory, available online, spotlights effective local school district efforts in fields such as Curriculum/Student Achievement; STEM Education/Technology; District Governance/Board Leadership; School Climate; Shared Services; Facilities and Financial Operations; Special Education; Sustainable Practices; and Community Relations. Some ideas have already received awards and recognition, while others are only now receiving attention and exposure.

Each entry includes a descriptive summary, contact information and, often, photos and website addresses for further information.

We urge school board members, school leaders, teachers and other educators to submit their best practices for consideration. It’s a wonderful way to spotlight the terrific things your school district is doing, and share those practices with other districts. Information should be submitted by completing a brief survey, located online . You can also find the survey by visiting the A+ site.

The A+ website shows the breadth of exciting programs taking place every day in New Jersey’s public school classrooms and districts. We look forward to the participation of all New Jersey school districts in this exciting project.
