On Oct. 18, Junior Achievement of New Jersey (JANJ) will debut a revised curriculum, JA Finance Park, which meets the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the 9.1 financial literacy standard for high school graduation. The curriculum is provided to districts in the state at no charge.

Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that has been providing education programs to students for nearly 100 years. JANJ provides curriculum to teachers and connects students to the New Jersey business community through its volunteer program.

JA Finance Park combines classroom lessons with a volunteer-assisted simulation field trip to the JA Education Center in Edison, where middle- and high-school students role-play, and learn about personal finance, smart money management and career exploration.

The Oct. 18 information session will feature remarks by Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director, and a member of the JANJ State Board of Directors; as well as by New Jersey Commissioner of Education Kimberley Harrington. The program will also include an overview of the curriculum, and a tour of the JA Education Center.

The event will be held at the JA Education Center, 350 Campus Drive, Edison, NJ 08837, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The session is free for attendees; but JANJ requests that anyone interested in attending RSVP by Monday, Oct. 16 via email to Angela Celeste, or by calling (609) 642-1773.
