Workshop 2017 is quickly approaching, with the deadline for housing registration on Sept. 22.

This year, an expanded four-day Workshop will run from Monday, Oct. 23 through Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

About Workshop The largest professional development event for school leaders in New Jersey, Workshop 2017 will offer more than 250 training sessions. In addition to opportunities for board members to earn NJSBA Board Member Academy credits, NJSBA has been authorized to issue Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) credits for school business administrators; professional development credits for Certified Educational Facilities Managers (CEFM); and sustainability credits toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification. Workshop 2017 will also offer expanded training for school technology professionals, as part of NJSBA’s commitment to helping schools reach their technology goals.

Housing Deadline A block of rooms has been secured at a number of hotels in Atlantic City. Please review the housing information on the Workshop website. Housing must be handled by the school business administrator. The last day to pay for and to make reservations under the Workshop 2017 block is Friday, Sept. 22.

Expanded Travel Waiver The New Jersey Department of Education has expanded the travel waiver to accommodate the additional day of training. The adjusted waiver allows school districts to reimburse eligible board members and staff for overnight accommodations for a maximum of three, rather than two, nights. Individuals whose one-way commute to the Atlantic City Convention Center exceeds 50 miles may obtain reimbursement from their school district, charter school, or renaissance school project for overnight lodging for Oct. 23, 24, and 25.

Workshop Registration and Pricing The Workshop group registration rate is $1,500, and has been expanded to cover 18 team members (up from 14 team members) including: school board members, business administrator, superintendent, facilities managers, curriculum professionals, IT staff, and other district professionals. The individual member rate is $300 per person. Registration is available online, and must be handled by the school business administrator.

On-Site Badge Printing In a switch from previous years, attendee badges will not be sent to school districts in advance of Workshop; this year, attendees will print their own badges at special kiosks outside the Exhibit Hall at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
