As part of its commitment to helping schools across New Jersey reach their sustainability goals, NJSBA recently offered members and school district personnel an opportunity to attend a one-day Sustainable Practices Working Session, sponsored by the Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey (ELFNJ).

During these sessions, participants reviewed a Sustainability Wellness Check, in alignment with the Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification program. As of March 2017, more than 600 schools and 250 school districts are participating in the Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification program, which advances and supports sustainable practices in schools; identifies concrete actions that schools can implement to become certified, and provides a roadmap that includes tools, guidance materials, training and financial incentives to support and reward progress.
