The annual Workshop training conference, the largest training event for New Jersey’s local school officials, will take place from Monday, Oct. 23 to Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The theme for Workshop 2017, “Education for a Common Purpose,” reflects the evolution of public education and its impact on our country. Registration and housing will open on Monday, April 3.

Workshop to Include Four Days of Training Workshop 2017 will include an extra day of training and an extension of the travel waiver. Read more in the Feb. 7 issue of School Board Notes.

Expanded Group Registration The Workshop 2017 member group registration rate is $1,500, and now covers 18 team members (up from 14 team members) which may include: the school board, business administrator, superintendent, facilities managers, curriculum professionals, IT staff, and other district professionals.

Early bird pricing From April 3 through June 30, 2017, NJSBA will offer a special group registration rate of $1,400 for up to 18 team members.

More Professional Development Opportunities Workshop 2017 will offer board members the opportunity to earn NJSBA Board Member Academy credits toward board member certifications.

In addition, NJSBA has been authorized to issue Qualified Purchasing Agent Credits for School Business Administrators; professional development credits for Certified Educational Facilities Managers (CEFM); and sustainability credits toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools Certification.

Workshop 2017 will also offer expanded training for school technology professionals, as part of NJSBA’s commitment to helping schools across New Jersey reach their technology goals.

Onsite Badge Printing New to Workshop 2017, all attendees will be able to print their own badges at the registration area located outside of Hall D at the Convention Center in Atlantic City, using a barcode they will receive via email. (Accommodations will be made for attendees who forget to bring their barcodes.)

In 2016, NJSBA rolled out a pilot program for onsite badge printing to board members in several counties. Based on the success of the pilot program, we are moving to onsite printing for all 21 counties to increase efficiency and convenience for all Workshop attendees.
